A Day in Limassol With Its Stunning Harbour

Got to get ready for a road trip to Limassol, known for its stunning harbour in the island of Cyprus!

This time, we are heading for a business appointment.
Located on the southern coast of Cyprus, an hour’s drive from Nicosia, exiting road to A1 that’s straight ahead! Easy navigation, no need to worry!

Makarios III Street

We are kinda excited and arrive a little bit early. So, let’s find a coffee shop downtown along Makarios III Avenue; a shopping district. At the corner is Gloria Jean’s coffee shop. The ambiance is pretty pleasant to pass the time. Chilling and relaxing – chatting, people and vehicle watching, till time’s up!

Then we stroll back to where we parked and walk a few yards more to Alasia Boutique Hotel – a chic business hotel. I settled to a comfortable spot at the outdoor lounge while my friends have a meeting. Weather is just superb this mid-April with a slightly cool breeze. And yes that’s my second cappuccino for the day; served with delish tea cakes. Indeed a good time for book reading.

Limassol Harbour/Marina

Finally, at lunchtime, we drove to the famous stunning harbour, also called the marina. You can shop, dine, go for a lovely stroll or even book for spa services. This place reminds me of “The Pearl” in Doha, Qatar.

Cruises to Aphrodite’s Rock, Pafos, Agia Napa, to name a few are available. Also, it is open for international cruises to Malta, Beirut, Heraklion, etc.

What I am looking forward to is a cruise trip to Holy Land. Salamis cruise offers a short 2-day cruise to Jerusalem!

Limassol is a long coastal strip, its seaport is a major, largest and busiest port in Cyprus. The hub of several foreign business establishments and has a high influx of visitors – tourists and businessmen. Before the Turkish invasion in 1974, the main port was in Famagusta, since then seaport was diverted and so its major activities here. Moreover, tourists are also diverted here as Kyrenia and Famagusta became Turkish occupied.

Currently, this is driving the Cyprus economy. Take a look at these upcoming major developments.

As you go through along the main coastal road; shops, restaurants, bars, and resorts lined up. There’s a considerable mix of tourists having a great time. 1. Limassol Castle – A medieval castle, near the old harbour. It was rebuilt at 1590 by the Ottoman empire.
2. Limassol Archaeological Museum – 1948 archaeological museum showcasing relics, statuary & art from old settlements.
3. City of Dreams Meditteranean – a casino chain
4. Acrotiri Old Ship Wreck – for diving
5. Limassol Beaches! – I need another trip! Kourion Beach -Lady’s Mile – Pissouri and more!

Getting here: From any point in Cyprus, there are intercity buses that will bring you to Limassol. From Nicosia, Larnaka, and Pafos, direct buses are available.
